J-ROCKS ~ Road To Abbey

Abbey Road Studios didirikan pada bulan november 1931 oleh EMI di London - Inggris.
Studio rekaman ini terletak di Abbey Road no. 3 di St. John Wood. Pada awal mula didirikan, studio ini fokus pada musik klasik saja, namun pada akhirnya membuka diri untuk rekaman lagu-lagu pop dan rock. bahkan pada akhirnya studio ini identik dengan The Beatles yang selalu menggunakan Abbey sebagai tempat rekaman hampir semua materi yang ada di album mereka.

Pada tahun 2008, setelah melalui seleksi yang cukup ketat akhirnya band J-Rock sukses menggondol piala gramophone sebagai tanda kemenangan mereka dalam kontes "Road To Abbey Road" yang diselenggarakan berkaitan dengan event musik terakbar di Indonesia yaitu A Mild Live Soundrenaline 2008 "Free Your Voice". Dalam pengumuman yang diselenggarakan usai acara di kota terakhir Yogyakarta tepatnya di Caesar Palace-Ambarukmo Plasa, Yogyakarta pada Senin (11/8) dinihari, band yang beranggotakan Iman (vokal), Sony (gitar), Anton (drum), Swara (bass) ini sukses mengalahkan 4 band lainnya yang juga masuk nominasi yaitu: GIGI, Saint Loco, Nidji, dan Padi.

Pada tahun 2009 ini akhirnya J-Rocks merilis album ketiga mereka bertajuk Road To Abbey, yang berisikan 5 (lima) lagu. salah satu lagunya ber-title sama dengan album mereka, yaitu :

ROAD TO ABBEY – THE FIRST INDONESIAN ALBUM EVER RECORDED IN ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS, LONDON

With gratitude and thanks to all who gave their help, prayers, support and attention, J - ROCKS completed its new mini album Road to Abbey at Abbey Road Studios in London, UK. In the process, J - ROCKS has become the first ever Indonesian band to record in the legendary studio where big names such as The Beatles, U2, Pink Floyd, Oasis and many more have created their masterpieces.

Overseeing the recording process was Chris Bolster, who boasts a very rich and diverse range of projects with many different types of artists and producers on his resume since becoming Abbey Road’s in-house sound engineer. His work includes Coldplay’s Live 2003, Placebo’s Soulmates Never Die and The Beatles’ Love. His most recent project before taking on J – ROCKS was engineering Oasis’ latest album, Dig Out Your Soul.

Fresh from winning the opportunity to record at Abbey Road through their stunning performances with the strongest theme during Indonesia’s biggest music festival, A Mild Live Soundrenaline 2008, J – ROCKS brought plenty of ideas to the studio, which were met with Bolster’s approval. The band also gained an abundance of new knowledge from the sessions. “He helped us a lot, and gave us some good advice regarding lyric-spelling and sounds,” says Iman, lead singer and guitarist of J - ROCKS.



The resultant mini-album, Road to Abbey, sees the band retain its roots while continuing to push into other diverse directions. The first single, “Falling in Love”, was recorded in both Indonesian and English, with a video shot during the recording sessions. The remaining songs on the mini-album are “Meraih Mimpi”, “Hanya Aku” and the instrumental opus title track, “Road to Abbey”

All of these priceless experiences and moments will help J – ROCKS to continue improving and create works of art that Indonesians can be proud of. Hopefully J – ROCKS’ message will spread and stimulate the next generation into raising awareness for the preservation of Indonesian music and culture, which are an important part of this country’s wealth.

J Style Batik ala J Rocks

J Rocks, mendengar nama band ini apa yang pertama kali teringat di telinga?
Yap, J style.
Selain musik mereka yang emang oke punya, skill individu tiap personel yang bisa dibilang sangat-sangat di atas rata-rata, J Rocks pada awal kemunculannya sudah mengusung aliran J Style dalam kostum dan aksi panggung mereka.
Musik beraliran Japanese Rock yang mereka bawakan tentunya akan sangat klop dengan baju baju ala Harajuku yang mereka pakai.
J Rocks terkenal dengan dandanan super aneh menurut pandangan orang, tetapi sangat enak dilihat walaupun warna yang dipakai sangat bertabrakan satu sama lain dan tatanan rambut acak-acakan ala Dragon Ball.
Inilah ciri khas J Style , ada yang menyebut kota Harajuku sebagai kiblat dandanan ala Jepang.
Pada perkembangannya , kultur bangsa sendiri juga ingin diangkat oleh J Rocks, ini terbukti dengan penampilan mereka di Soundrenaline yang mulai mengusung kain Batik. Kain kebanggaan warga Indonesia yang tidak bisa dipungkiri memang telah mendunia. Dengan berkostum batik yang lagi-lagi telah dimodifikasi sehingga menjadi kostum panggung yang sangat menarik membuat J Rocks memenangkan hadiah rekaman di Abbey Road Studio London karena tema unik yang mereka usung.
Pada beberapa kali penampilan mereka di televisi, J Rocks juga mengenakan kostum batik. Ini menandakan bahwa kain tradisional Jawa ini pun bisa dipadu-padankan dengan Harajuku style. Untuk kreativitas , anak anak J Rocks memang patut mendapatkan acungan jempol. Tidak hanya J Style yang mereka adopsi secara murni, tetapi mereka melakukan mix menjadi J Style batik ala J Rocks.
